Multidisciplinary Artist
Hello! I’m Sandra Cartellone, a multidisciplinary artist.
My desire to learn new techniques and the constant search for new tools have allowed me to develop my creativity through various disciplines, such as illustration, photography, graphic design, video, and web development.
Sandra Cartellone
Illustration
Taking the known natural world as a source of inspiration, and maintaining an internal dialogue with the imaginary and the casual, I explore different ways of expressing the ideas that arise during the creative process.
Sometimes, the illustrations take their own course, and the final result is a product of the combination of elements created independently, without the initial intention of putting them together. Beings and scenarios that arise, by chance, from the mixture between pareidolias and a series of fortunate errors. Creations that take advantage of chance until everything makes sense.
Experimenting is key to evolving and growing. I enjoy discovering patterns, textures, and colours. Mixing digital and traditional techniques. Combining dry and wet materials. My intention is that the technique is always at the service of artistic production, whether it is watercolour, oil, acrylic, India ink, gouache, graphite, pastel chalk, markers, coloured pencils, collage, or digital painting. With this, I can h ave the freedom to choose the medium that best suits what I want to express.
COLLABORATIONS
In collaboration with Palitroque Artesanía, we have created a line of sculptural table lamps. The lamps that make it up depict imaginary characters, whose final design is born from observing the tree trunk and following the path marked by its various shapes and veins.
That is why these table lamps are, at the same time, sculptures of human characters or other species, which function as a decorative element, providing a warm and creative point of light to different spaces.
Aequitas Handmade Table Lamp
Unique piece made of olive and iroko wood. The Aequitas handmade table lamp is, in turn, a half-face sculpture of a human face inspired by oriental culture.
Cuervo Blanco Handmade Table Lamp
Unique piece made of olive and iroko wood. The Cuervo Blanco handmade table lamp is, in turn, a half-face sculpture of a human face inspired by our particular vision of the culture of Native Americans.
Spinea Handmade Table Lamp
Unique piece made of olive and iroko wood. The Spinea handmade table lamp is, in turn, a half-face sculpture of a fish swimming in its habitat, inspired by the underwater world.
Photography
The natural world has conquered my reason. It is impossible for me to resist contemplating its beauty and, why not, in turn, capturing that ephemeral moment in a photograph, so that it is immortalized in memory.
I have learned to appreciate the peculiar charm of the apparent chaos and the underlying order that governs the world around me. Being attentive and aware of how the warmth of light and the seasons alter my perception of each scenario and its protagonists, whether they are plants, insects, birds or other living organisms or, simply, what is inert.
